Growing Participation Across a Festival With Many Ways to Engage
BPDI connected digital activation with live participation signals to help grow engagement across a festival offering very different ways to participate.

The Decision
The festival brought together a wide mix of experiences under one event, including a 5K, film showcase, educational programming, health and wellness activities, and community-focused events. Growing participation meant reaching people across very different interests while giving each part of the festival enough visibility to find its audience.
BPDI supported that growth directly. We ran the festival's digital advertising, managed its audience data activation and outreach, and monitored ticketing response as demand developed. Because BPDI was operating the campaign while measuring it, we could see where participation was building, where additional promotion could make a difference, and how people were moving across the festival's varied experiences.
Where the Evidence Lived
Participation signals were spread across the systems used to support promotion, registration, ticketing, and program activity. Each source captured part of the picture, but no single view showed how the campaign was translating into participation across the festival as a whole.
BPDI connected those signals into a common view while the campaign was active, giving the organization a clearer picture of how outreach and participation were developing across different experiences.
The Analytical Move
BPDI used live campaign and participation signals to guide the activation as it unfolded. The goal was to drive attendance while learning which experiences were gaining traction, where outreach was converting into participation, and where additional attention could strengthen results.
The campaign generated meaningful differences across the festival's program mix. Some experiences built momentum quickly while others required a different level or type of promotion. Reading those patterns during the activation helped BPDI make the campaign more responsive while giving leadership better intelligence for future planning.
That made the work more valuable than a post-event performance review. Execution and intelligence were connected in the same cycle, allowing the organization to grow participation while learning from the response it was generating.
The result was a more practical view of demand across a festival designed to offer very different types of experiences.
BPDI's activation drove participation while revealing where demand was strongest across the festival's varied experiences.
BPDI's activation helped drive participation across the festival while revealing meaningful differences in how people responded to its varied experiences.
The organization gained more than campaign performance data. It gained a clearer view of where demand was building, how different experiences responded to promotion, and how future marketing, programming, and audience development could be aligned with the way people were actually participating.
What Changed
BPDI helped expand participation while giving the organization a stronger measurement foundation for future growth. The festival came away with a clearer understanding of which experiences generated momentum, how different outreach channels contributed to participation, and where future investment could be concentrated.
The work connected execution and intelligence in the same cycle: activate, measure, learn, and improve. That created a stronger basis for future campaign planning, audience development, and participation decisions across the festival.
Why This Recurs
Multi-program festivals require more than one broad marketing push. Different experiences attract people for different reasons, and the strongest results come from connecting activation with live participation signals instead of waiting until the event is over to understand what happened.
When campaign execution and intelligence are connected, organizers can drive participation more deliberately, see where momentum is forming, and carry those lessons into the next cycle.
